That’s awesome!

Happy Valentines Day everyone!
And thanks so much for sharing your love and knowledge of these fabulous birds!

Speaking of nesting, I noticed Trip was up and eating when I left home. (first time I've seen her up) But Rocky was not covering the nest for her. I have no idea how long she had been up, and I had to leave before I could see if he was going to cover. But what if he doesn't help? Will she do it all on her own? Can they survive if she spends the usual time that hens do, being off the nest?

He will likely cover them, but keep watching him. Some pairs have one or the other that will sit 24\7. But that's not normal. If he doesn't sit, and she gets off when it's his time to sit, but he doesn't sit, the eggs won't hatch.

You could try if he doesn't sit, to give the eggs to your parlors and see if they will sit. (Parlors are kinda like the silkie chicken in the pigeon world) or another sat pair. Keep us posted.

Hopefully he is helping, and hopefully she does not spend too much time away from the nest. Frankly given the present low temperatures, I don't know if the eggs will be fine. My gut says yes.

Thanks! That's pretty much what I was thinking. But I hadn't considered giving them to the parlors, so that's a great option!
