Pigeon Talk

Actually, I can do it. For one, our place is not open to the public on Mondays, but I still work. And honestly, my boss wouldn’t mind. I can take them in a small box, I have my own office, everyone would love to see them. :)

I didn’t smell anything greatly offensive, although I didn’t intentionally sniff it. I’m pretty good at smelling offensive odors, but I’m also fairly immune when opening dead eggs now.

I have no idea what they should weigh. I guess that’s another good argument for weighing, so we could share!
First time I weighed Bugsy was at 11 days, I think, she was 132 grams.

But while I was searching for videos on weighing them, I ran across this video of dove babies that both died at a week old.
Very sad, but morbidly interesting
Hmm. I wondered why they died? Was it to cold?

The dominant cock bird, Blackjack, has been guarding the remaining hen so fiercely that the other cock hasn't been able to get a proper feed without being chased off the floor and I've had to feed him in the aviary out of my hand.
I put a box in for him and the hen but either she is uninterested or not old enough to want to breed. I was hoping that since its just the three of them in there that they could stay out of each other's way but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Should I isolate the aggressor before someone gets hurt?

If he is aggressive enough that you are worried your other bird will get injured, separate them. Keep us posted!

Was looking through the magazines that they sent with my NPA stuff, and there’s a directory of members in the back. There just so happens to be a member within 2 miles of my house!! I’m tempted to do a drive by! :p
How cool! I hope you get to meet up with them! :fl
Handsome boys and pigeons! :love
Congrats to the boys! They chose some nice birds :love
I’ve gotten both of them to take some liquid from a syringe. All my plans for today have now turned to getting these 2 back to full strength. Brick is doing great. Brewer has take a few nibbles too

Im so glad he made it! :celebrate:bow

Other fowl are ducks, chickens, peafowl, and 2 turkeys.
:love:love:love
I can't help but laugh.
It's hard for me to believe you are a beginner at anything. :old
Right?! :highfive:

Before I came back and read the last couple of pages, I tried again. And I tried to get it on video, so you all can tell me what to do better. I alternated a minute or two each, before I started the video. They were kinda fighting over it, so I can definitely see how one squeaker would end up getting more from the parents. :D

That's so neat! I need squeakers! :gig
:lau of course they have to go work with you!
Absolutely! She has to keep a close on those two! :D
Brewer and Brick this morning, after eating

Blackjack is not the father? If he's not, I do think I'd separate him.

That's a good bit of record keeping:thumbsup. So going by that mine should be anywhere between 21-25gr.

It's Bring Your Pigeons to Work day. :wee

(I realize this wasn't necessary, but since I could do it, I decided to go ahead! lol)
I even turned on the heated seat for them. :gig
