Pigeon Talk

My bands finally came in but I think the babies are simply too big already. They hatched last Thursday.
I watched countless videos on how to move the band past the back toe and flick it forward but there's judt not enough room for me to do that with the leg and toe in the band. I'd rather not injure them so I decided to give up and chalk it up to inexperience.
Your decision of course, but if they're only six days old it should be okay. I put a drop of castor(any) oil inside the band and I use one of those pointy rubber dental things to pull the back toe through. Some use the quill end of a shed feather for this. As long as you can work the band over the knuckle far enough to insert what you use between the back toe and the leg, you can gently pull the toe through. At that age the toe bone are flexible not hard. Whatever you do, the main thing is the babies are thriving, right? How about some new pics?:D

Thanks! I was worried about injuring the back toe because I didn't realize it was so rubbery still. I used vaseline and they went on like a breeze.
Meet 33371 and 33372!

The toe should still be able to come though. Hold the leg around the joint so it is as straight as possible and slide the band as high up as you can. The toe is fairly flexible and can bend quite alot when you flick it through. A little oil or vaseline can help. Also the claw can/will catch on the ring so just push it under. Lik bio says a dental pick or feather quill will help flick it through. I have a thin cake decorating tool that works great.

That is exactly how I felt,,,,,,, so I would always start the wedding rings on day 4. I simply put all toes together. Band often would fall off, so next day I would redo again. Then I got on the idea to use some yarn, or athletic tape to prevent ring from sliding off just for a few days. It worked, and in few days, I removed yarn or tape. I just did not want any broken thumbs,,,,:hit
