Rest in Peace 1953-2021
@backyard pigeons
Oh man, sorry for your trouble but be glad you are young and fit...I'd have a heart attack trying to rescue one of my birds like that! That bird is alive only bc of you!! Yes please keep us updated. Is it wounded in the body or just the wing? So far you are doing what I would do. If there are any deep lacerations I'd think about using super glue to close the edges. I've never done that myself but I think @Hokum Coco has. Is it breathing easy and not shocky?
I'm a believer in the body's ability to heal itself given supportive care. I do use homeopathic remedies to give an extra boost to this self healing ability.
In this case I would be giving a dose of Aconite for shock, then a dose of Arnica for the wounds, bleeding, swelling and pain and perhaps a dose of Ledum for the deep punctures. Each of these remedies cost under $10 per tube of 80 pellets, enough to treat many injured birds as you would use only a few and store the rest for another time. I even use the Arnica for my own injuries. If you would like to try those, pm me and I can suggest how to administer them. Of these 3 the most beneficial would be Arnica if you were going with just one.
If infection becomes a concern then think about using a good quality pure honey to dress the wound.
