Pigeon Talk

It is done! 30 gallon tub with the top and side windows cut out and replaced with extra bird cage panels. I made a front door with ziptied hinges and a metal spring lock. Lots of room to run now for under $15.

Thats Excellent! Would be awesome if you did a write up on it as an article so that others could make it too! Im sure i wanna try it out!

I could do that. Only thing is that I was able to use finch cage panels because I had extras as I've cut apart and connected smaller cages to give my other birds larger enclosures. Though the idea could be done with hardware cloth.

I made two more modifications this morning... External feeder doors because I learned quails will dust bathe all of the food out of an open bowl, and an external water bottle. They figured how to drink from it after about an hour. The external doors would be impossible to make I think without having them already on another cage panel.

Love all the new birds! I had coturnix quail for a brief time. I also had a flock of Golden sebrights. Beautiful birds, but mine were the most obnoxious flock I ever had, so I rehomed them. The males were mean and the females were super flighty. :(

@backyard pigeons you asked how many pigeons I have now - I’m still at 16. I’ve seen a bit of recent mating activity, and molting appears to be lessening, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see some eggs soon. Bonnie and Clyde sat thru November or December last year.
