I think I'm going to try to put a layer of gravel down them maybe some mulch or something. I've just been putting everything I rake out of the aviary into a compost pile in the woods so I could put the dirty mulch in there too. I also considered putting some sand along the back wall where they perch and poop most of the time so that I could try sifting it out. I'll have to experiment.

Unrelated but someone just over the state line has a number of fancy breeds posted on craigslist. The sats they have look pretty nice.

They have a few giant runts too which I kind of like just because of how absurdly huge they are.

Very nice! are they hatch mates? If so, probably a male and female. But not always.

I don't know! I'm hoping not. The lady I got them from has a dovecote and they are free to fly all day. She had to catch them last night so I could come look at them today.

I also think Ash may be crossed with a roller pigeon. She has always been smaller but I just now let them out and she did a very neat backflip!

Maybe she could be it's the second time I've seen her do it. She does fly differently to the others and won't fly with them. She's happy just flying alone. The youngsters fly well enough though. Straight up and fly with the flock.
