Pigeon Talk

Not to be a downer, just preparing for worst case scenario ;) but do you have any other pigeons that could foster the squab in case the parents don't take care of it properly? I know you've had a ton of issues with that pair.

Me, I'm the 'other pigeons', haha. I'm ordering Squab food just in case.

What are you breeding for? Better instincts? you don't race, do you?

What is the farthest toss you have done?
I used to race, but I have been out of the competition part of it for years. I suppose most people are striving for better homing instincts and speeds, etc... but realistically at this point I am just maintaining the strain and making sure they can still do their job. Farthest successful release? 700 miles. I always wanted to hit the 1000 mile mark someday, but who knows.

Very nice. What made you quit racing?

Congrats! Hope they both thrive. :fl
Yes, so...

I am treating my breeders with a 4-1 that covers paratyphoid. I have 4 clutches that are currently being sat on in my breeders loft. We will see if the 4-1 helps.

then I have 4 clutches being sat on now that are in the flyers loft which haven't received the 4-1. We will see which do better. I am hoping the results are very clear. We will see.

They ones that hatched are in the flyers loft. Their parents haven't been treated. We will see!
