I've been using a Hovabator 62n for a long time and I only ever get a 50% hatch rate. Where would you start on figuring out why? Is it simply the lack of a fan?

Where do you get your eggs?
Do you have a seprate calibrated thermometer/hygrometer?

The eggs come from my birds. I have a thermometer on top of the eggs but I do not have a hygrometer.

Maybe it's the humidity then. Chicks can drown or dry up if it's incorrect

The incubators come with a slotted trough where you fill one section up until day 17, then you fill the next one up. I guess I was hoping that eventually I could get a handle on the humidity without a hydrometer.

I have that on my incubator but when I got a hygrometer I realised it was way too high fillibg it to the line

That's what I'll do, buy me a few hygrometers.

Any guesses on this 1-2 week old silkie bantam? Also does it feathers look normal? The wing feathers seem very thin? This is my first silkie bantam. Thanks!
