PLEASE HELP! PILGRIM GOOSE CUT BEAK

PLEASE HELP!
I hope you get this message and can help! We were getting groceries yesterday AM and when we came home, our 6 1/2 month (full grown) Pilgrim goose Gabby's beak was bleeding, some blood spatter in the run (from her shaking head), and we quickly saw that somehow she had a clean cut side to side, just up from the white tip most of the way to the inside of mouth. We were freaking. We have NO idea how she manged this. The wire sides of the run are coated and the 'squares' are big---she could easily get her head out of one, but we have never seen her do anything like play with the run sides. We have looked and could find NOTHING sharp that would cause a cut. We are mystified. We cleaned the cut well, stopped any bleeding quickly, and wrapped with a skinny piece of Vetwrap right now that goes all around inside (roof of mouth at tip), but not too thick. We didn't know what to do. There is a very small actual piece missing from beak about 1/2 way into the cut---tiny triangular piece. We put her in a bin in our bedroom, and she did fine last night. She is drinking some water and she ate some peeled cucumber cut up, but that's all. She slept all night. No breathing interference. She seems calm and happy to be with us unless we try messing with it to wrap or clean of course. We are terrified that this won't 'close' up and would tear off. We have NO avian vet here, and it would be cost prohibitive for us anyway. Not an option. I am hoping some here can help with advising us as to care. Hubby is out feeding chickens and ducks. As soon as he can come in and hold her I can unwrap this and take photos for you. We are keeping Gabby in with us and are trying to get help as to all we can do. Any suggestions are welcome. We are so upset. Gabby is our baby.

That’s definitely a serious injury but I think Miss Lydia is right and it will heal. Honestly because of where it is I’m not sure a vet would be much help anyway because it’s on the beak it’s not really a place where bandages would stay in place or that stitching would do much.
Do what Miss Lydia suggested, keeping the wound clean is the best thing for an injury like this.

Beak injuries heal fairly fast, it might heal a little funky because of that missing wedge. Worst case scenario she might lose part of her bean to the front but it looks like there’s enough left for there to be blood flow to it so there’s a good chance it could heal fine.

I see that you’re in New Hampshire and it’s winter but is there any chance you could have a snapping turtle in your yard?

Yes, since the beak is actually missing a piece definitely don't try and bend or superglue it, I agree just keep it clean and use a topical antibiotic from time to time. Bandages would probably get wet/dirty too quickly to be useful and could cause infection. It should heal up in time and might even fill in most of the way.

I was thinking of you and Gabby today I hope she is healing up well , please let us know how she is doing.
Gabby the goose update~
One week today and Gabby is doing so well. Vet was out of the question---completely unaffordable for us and no avian vet here but we think we are doing a good job helping her heal from a beak cut. (Freak accident). We moved her to a bin in our bedroom where she is still residing. We're not taking any chances with the beak injury/infection/etc. After the first day and night she was feeling much better and was interacting with us and seemed her old self. She also started eating after the second day. We put apple cider vinegar with the mother in it. She is eating feed that we added water to and mashed peas. She is eating like crazy and drinking. No problems. We treat the wound several times a day with Vetricyn and triple antibiotic ointment. The first day or so we gave her Amoxicillan caps (Fish Mox/ for animals that we had. OTC---no Rx needed). She took baths each day in the tub---She loves it!!! After she literally JUMPED/FLEW from her bin up onto our bed to be with us as we watched Youtube, it was clear she was ready to get out and move around, as well as wanting to snuggle with us! We take her for walks outside on her harness and leash, but we just got her the BEST goose diapers for inside, and wow! She is having a ball walking and following us around in the house! Beak is healing well, and we hope the small V cut on the side will close completely in time. She'll be back out in the coop with her buddies when we feel she is sufficiently healed.
