Only thing I ever worried about frost bite was the roosters combs, and sure enough they lost em the first year but then never had a problem after that and they are 5 years old now, Chickens are smarter than most people give them credit for along with not being babied, mine got enough down that if it was really cold it would be peeking outta their feathers, it's more people that feel the cold not the outside animals.All it takes is some common sense and researching the breeds you want to raise, some are better suited but even the poor skinny leghorns did fine in winter here
