If you take the momma away from her baby they're both going to freak out. But I agree about her trying to escape and possibly hurting the eggs and/or the baby. If she is calm then I'd leave her in there for tonight but tomorrow you should definitely move her and baby and eggs to a brooder or somewhere that she can safely be with her baby.If you have a brooder or somewhere else to put the chick, I would take the chick away from her in the morning. Otherwise she is going to want to get off the nest to take care of the chick and leave the other eggs which may result in broken eggs and/or a dead chick. You can lock a hen in with her eggs but you can't make her set on them.
