PLEASE HELP!

Okay. I went back down and she still hadn't gotten back on the nest. So I decided to move her into a separate coop. I put her and the chick back on the other eggs and blocked her in. I put food inside and I'll sort the water out tomorrow.

(I ended up getting mud in my hair, pecked and poo on my face but I'm good xD)

If you have a brooder or somewhere else to put the chick, I would take the chick away from her in the morning. Otherwise she is going to want to get off the nest to take care of the chick and leave the other eggs which may result in broken eggs and/or a dead chick. You can lock a hen in with her eggs but you can't make her set on them.

I tried locking a hen in with her eggs one time and she ended up breaking the eggs and eating whatever was inside them whether it was a partly developed chick or something else I don't know. I believe I was away for the weekend and when I got back all that was left was the formerly broody hen. Then I ended up breaking her of her broodiness.

If you take the momma away from her baby they're both going to freak out. But I agree about her trying to escape and possibly hurting the eggs and/or the baby. If she is calm then I'd leave her in there for tonight but tomorrow you should definitely move her and baby and eggs to a brooder or somewhere that she can safely be with her baby.

Unless more chicks have hatched in the morning and you are fine with the rest of the eggs not hatching I have heard of others taking the chicks away so the hen will hatch the rest of the eggs.
