Hey there! We recently had a hawk take one of our ducks so now I need to isolate them to an area on our property without them being in a stuffy small pen. Any advice and photos are greatly appreciated!!!

Super simple and easy to make. Studded wall framing and hardwire wrapped around the bottom and up the sides, tin roof. Sand floor for easy scooping. Clear roof panels on the sides so nothing can grab them when they are locked up. It also keeps the rain out too...well somewhat.

My tips are not going to be directly what you are looking for, but I wan't to post them anyway for whom it might help.

I made this;

It's a coop not a pen what I made. (or is there no difference? Well it is a house, but not a contained area. Please explain to me the difference between a coop and a pen).

It helps because we can see them, and they can find us, in case of predators. Because it is so close to our house predators tend to stay away. The eggs they lay are also higher that helps to get rid of some egg-eating predators.
We also decided to leave the family of crows in our chimney that is not in use; they chase bird of prey away and also the magpie. (which is basically a prettier crow, still steals eggs and ducklings but doesn't chase other bird of prey away).
We also have a cat. That cat sees the ducks and ducklings as part of 'hers' and chases other cats and foxes and hermelins etc. away.
This works for us since we put eggs in an incubator and raise ducklings inside. (crows like eggs an ducklings too)

But we actually never have problems with the crows (we do with the magpie's). They seem to understand the agreement.

Then about every other day I move it around so they have fresh grass
Looking at your pen with those wide openings in the fencing makes me think sooner or later your going to have a raccoon reach inside and try to pull one or both of your ducks through and pull the head right off. I'd get hard ware cloth and at least go up 2' from the ground all the way around. And you opening at the gate is large enough for something to squeeze through. I like the gazebo just needs a bit of tweaking for it to be predator safe. We have a member lose 2 of his ducks with a set up like yours. Raccoons are awful. @Tevyes Dad can explain since it was his ducks.

I have a 10’ X 10’ Kennel I have wrapped with tarp.

Inside it has a claw foot tub for a mini pond (already placed the drainage), a doghouse for extra comfort and warmth, and the water/food area.

Next will come a run that attaches to the shed next door. I will cover the run with chicken wire.

Finally, in the spring I will make a larger pond for them near the run. I’m hoping the kennel with the dog house is warm enough for them throughout the winter. I will be adding more flooring soon. This entire setup is in a fenced yard. They will roam free most days with a Border Collie to watch them. Then at night, she will herd them into the house.

Is the bathtub their pool? How do they get in there?
How did you attach the tarps to the kennel?
