Mine are super-cute, friendly, lovable useless non-egg layer bantams. I really should rehome them but they're so darned cute. Mine also get picked on alot by the other chickens - they pull out part of the roosters tophat.

If you want barnyard ornaments, go for it. You can always sell them if you end up not wanting to keep them (ha ha, you wrote that on some other post today).

Oh, I love my girl. I'm ordering 3 more from MPC with Feb. She's the nicest out of my whole flock.

*****Hmm...bad things...

-She can't see too well, and has gotten herself into tons of trouble over the past year. (Got caught in the neighbor's dog fence, had to go rescue her before she became someone's personal chew-toy!)

-She get's spooked when someone steps in front of her

-She's too smart for her own good. She's learned more about what makes me tick than most people do! She'll follow me home until I come back to give her more treats.

-Her crest freezes REALLY badly in the winter. I'm talking, crest-feathering turning to icicles.

-Others peck at her crest from time to time. Nothing major, though.

-The crest can get her overheated in extreme temps. When summer comes on by, I have to spray her whole head with ice-water. She hates it!

-I HEAR roos are aggressive. Not sure if that's true or not.

-Poor layer, obviously.

*****Good things! (Because I have to add them!)

-She's so funny! Everything about her is just amazing. I wouldn't have wanted any other!

-She actually free-ranges pretty well.

-No predator attacks yet. She's very alert and listens to the roos' warnings.

-Not a picky eater. She'll go for anything that moves. =/

-Totally addicting! The attitudes are just amazing on those little guys! (Or girls!)

-We hatched her chicks last spring. Her daughter is so sweet. Her son, not so much, but he probably takes over that 'mean roo' trait I hear so much about. And his dad was a demon.

-I want her to live for as long as possible and plan never to hurt her. When she stops laying, she'll be the retired old lady that makes my day-every day.

Hah, okay I'm done now.
