No problem!

If she hasn't been sitting long, just taking her off the nest enough times might work. If not, the other suggestions might help :)

Or perhaps you can put the cage somewhere else
I think we're just going to keep taking her off the nest all day, and blocking it off. She should get the gist of it soon enough. She's even trying to go round the back of the coop to get in. But she hasn't nested outside yet so fingers crossed we've caught it soon enough.

I hope it works out! And if you can, try to take her off at night too and put her on the roost.

If not, it was suggested earlier in the thread to use ice packs. That might work or putting the crate inside, mine is in the garage

It's a funny thing as she never roosts non of our chickens do which is really strange they have two roosting places and use neither we only have a small coop which is enough for the three birds as they roam all day in our garden. It's a difficult thing to judge.

Wow that really is weird! Maybe they don't like the roost? And how high are the roosts? Chickens like to roost in the highest place possible so if your nest boxes or something else in the coop is even a little higher. They will roost there

Well our brahma sleeps in the main bit next to the roost area and the two younger chickens sleep in the nest box which is also very strange

Wow that is strange. How old are they? Chicks don't start roosting until they are older. And how high are the roosts and nest box?

I think Penny's reintegration is a success!

She even flew out of my arms off the deck and no one cared. A couple came a little closer to investigate but went back to what they were doing.

Penny ate some grass then joined 3 others eating sunflower seeds. Fairly high value and no issues.

Well, minimal issues I should say. Amber (floppy comb Orpington) gave her some grief as I was typing, I heard it. Was a little squabble and some pecks but it just lasted a few seconds and all was well. After that, she ducked out of Amber's way once when she gave her a look and turned back towards me, a little nervous to follow them to a new foraging area but I told her it was okay and to go on a few times and then she ran off to join them!

No other issues.

Not even with my Australorps and Barred Rock who can sometimes be the bullies and I thought they would go after her. Nope.

I think maybe Amber just saw an opportunity to try to move up the rank ladder? Lol

Anyway, they are all peacefully foraging and she has not tried to go back to the nest yet.

We will see how they treat her at roost time.

Only other, unrelated, problem is Bunny can be a bit of a loner.

One of our chickens is only a couple of months old, the other were not sure as brought her recently and she isn't laying yet so I'd think not very old. The brahma is around 1years old. The coop was a pre built one, the nest box is a little higher than the coop.
