This is some that I have Done on my coop. When finished this part will be my Little White Church

Most of my coops are made of recycled materials.I have used pallets,4x4's,3/4"plywood,Roofing,I have tongue and grooved maple flooring that was given to me and I plan on using that. All windows except for one were very cheep.I catch it for putting so much time into it,I am enjoying it and I don't have alot in it.Problem doing this way is that as you go you continually make changes because of the materials that you scrounge. It didn't start out to be like this

I am in the process of running a glass run way between these 2 coops. It will be the dining hall. With the windows it will add heat to the coop in the winter.I'll have the water in there so I'm hoping it will help to keep it.On the other side of the new addition I hope to finish like the first.I'm fortunate that I have elec at the coops.I plan on also putting a steeple on top with a bell and a light to shine at night.
thawed.I'll be putting up some more pictures as I get them

Looking good I agree 100% on changes due to materials found or lack of. So far with wire roofing plywood hardware feed and feeders I'm in it a little over $150

I love using pallets. I have some that have 12ft 4x4 oak runners underneath and the oak is so hard I had to run pilot holes to put screws in, and broke the drill so many times I had to find some other material to use. and you're right about changing your mind about sizes. You have to build with what you have, but that's the fun of using pallets. Keep up the good work. Here's a pick of some of the pallets that I've used.

With this coop that I'm in the process of constructing,re-modeling,etc. I have to use recycled materials.I know that it is xtra work and sometimes you never know what you are going to get,but that is part of the excitement. I hope to post some pictures tomorrow evening on what I've been doing the last few days on
my coop.I have new 2x4's but there is a lot of recycled material. I started this with pallets and the walkway itself is an 8x8 pallet.I have a mess to clean up and I hoping my other half will understand. So far so good but I'm starting to press my luck..

A good idea is to pre-drill your holes with a good grade bit.The heat on the bit is what makes them brake easy,so take your time. When you put your screw or nails in use paraffin wax on the shaft so that it is easier going in.I have used regular bar soap.Tricks of the trade.

That was the point of these torx screws saves time by not needing to predrill a bunch of wholes now if you where building a clock or something super detailed I could see predrilling, not to do framing. But yes the heat will break a screw or just getting in a bind will on a low grade screw.
