Preparing to set call and pekin duck eggs! Hatch day should be March 4, 2021 if all goes well!

@WVduckchick in the bottom picture beside Garth, is that duck butt blue and chocolate or am I seeing it incorrectly? It's absolutely gorgeous on my screen.
I think its that mis-marked weirdo lol!
I am not sure who her parents are.

I thought I was going to cry yesterday evening. I had gone outside and was talking to the ducks, changing waters, etc. I can’t seem to get a count on my ducks now, and I know I’m missing a few. But I was trying to count males/females. I then realized that Phoenix was not in the bunch. She is the only one that responds when I say her name, so I kept yelling for her.
So I walked over to my neighbors house, the ducks have been hiding out under their out-buildings and their camper. Hiding, catching bugs, laying eggs? Idk. But I still couldn’t find Phoenix. Went inside and told my husband I was going for a walk to see if I could find her (or a body, etc) anywhere around the woods. Went thru the back yard on my way out, and there the little devil was! I have no idea where she had been, but while I was searching, she had returned. My heart can’t take it. :D

I’m so glad you found Phoenix! She is such a special sweetie! I’d love to see some current pictures of her when you get a chance! :pop

What a beauty! Do you have any idea what color she is? :love
From one side, she looks totally blue bibbed, but from the front or other side, I just don’t know!

The odd one is first, Phoenix is last in the video

@WVduckchick I know exactly how you felt!
I had quite the scare yesterday too…. Do you gals remember how I said that Chip built her nest under my pile of scraps?

Well I had people working on my house yesterday and made sure I mentioned that I had a duck nesting under that pile. I showed them another place to put leftover scraps.

Well I came outside and saw all kinds of boards, tin, shingles, and etc piled on top!!!! My heart dropped! I thought for sure they crushed her! I immediately began taking things off the pile to try to get to her. Keep in mind I am short (around 5’3) and possess little to no upper body strength.

This took quite a while because I didn’t have anyone to help me. I finally managed to get all the extra stuff off and lift the piece of tin she sits under. Luckily she was not harmed, but her clutch had quite a few broken eggs.

Needless to say, I was very disgruntled. I’m just grateful she’s ok.

Holy smokes! Glad she is ok. Bummer on the broken eggs. That had to be a stressful job to pull all that out, not knowing what you’d find.

I’m missing a snowy girl too, I hope she has a nest somewhere that I just haven’t discovered.

Me too! Yes, I was not happy about that. I’m planning on giving her new ones. Unfortunately she is in a bad spot and refuses to sit when I try to move her.
I was so worried I was going to find her crushed under there! I couldn’t believe they didn’t listen. I was trying to lift off the stuff as fast as I could, and actually ended up cutting my leg on the tin siding. Luckily both her and I are alright.

I really hope you find your Snowy hen! It’s so stressful not knowing where they are. :fl
