cons of roosters
  • noisy at times (but hens can be too) (they crow all hours of the day and night ) Not just at sunrise .
  • can be cretans when mating ( They can become aggressive towards people in an instant. and will almost always attack when your back is turned ) they mate year round .
hope you don't mind I've added a few
There's no way an alpha hen can do the job of multiple roosters. My roos set up a 3-point guard when they're together, and individually escort smaller groups around the property.
No chicken is safe from a relentless predator. Regardless of how well roosters do their job . All animals have the flight for survival instinct . Birds and mammal's .Most only fight when backed into a corner . Predators kill for food . Murders kill for the trill. No chicken will stop either . I put my faith in a well aimed bullet :lau You do have a valid point and I am reminded of the a story someone told I think it was @ lazy gardener about the roosters fending off a hawk. Since Elizabeth1987 wants only hens then I would keep looking till I found only hens . The aggression factor alone is the biggest con in having a rooster . My mother would have bled to death from a rooster spur had My wife not been there .

Oh well, I guess my experience is irrelevant then.
:lau Well my friend I wonder if three roosters can whop a monkey idunno.gif Now repeat after me My opinion is the only one I listen too ;):lau

Not irrelevant, just not the full picture.
Experience is always the best teacher . Therefore the picture one paints from experience is the one that they will use as a guild line in their operation. So his picture is just as full as yours. There is always the sell factor too. Big roosters always bring more money at the flea markets where the Hispanics frequent . Black feathered big roos do better with Asians. Just be ready to dispatch any rooster that you don't want . Sell eat rehome doesn't matter just so it's gone off the feed bill . But roosters full grown roosters don't eat as much as hens . I know some of you are thinking I'm wrong( I'm never wrong am I ?) but the caged rooster eats less than the caged hen in my experience . Good luck Elizabeth1987:frow
