Not necessarily true. Some breeds are harder to hatch out the chicks.

All of my birds are pure from established lines. I don't cross lines. Depends on your goal as to how you breed. If you are truly interested in preserving lines, seek out breeders of particular lines of the breeds you are interested in.
These websites might help you some. They were both BYC members. Bob Blosl passed away a few years ago. He was a wealth of knowledge.

Yeah, I was so excited too, they had a lot of the breeds I wanted for affordable costs and then i saw something on their price sheet

How about Icelandic or Bresse? There are very limited breeders to get those two kinds of chickens from.

I have looked at the Icelandics, they seem really cool

Have you considered showgirl silkies? Rather common, at least if eBay is anything to judge, but they're just weird enough to be cute

I, me, personally LOVE the silkies so much. I only own one but she is the cutest sweetest little ball of fluff ever!
