Those are niceWe had today off because of nasty weather so I made some home decor items for a silent auction fundraiser at my sons school. They are made of pheasant, mallard, and chuckar feathers.

No judgement here. I like hearing about people keeping them with chickens! It makes me wonder if perhaps the disease factor could be “voided” in some ways, such as raising them together.View attachment 1666864 View attachment 1666863
i found some pics!! the full run one is older.....I dug out all the straw and replaced with pine mulch, sand, and crushed brick. the turkeys are gone. the quail hideaway and hutch are all the way in the back behind the swing but the quail (especially the boys) love coming to the front fence now!! i have aviary netting over whole run. there is also a concrete footer around the entire perimeter. only the chicken get to go out into yard for playtime on pretty days. there are 2 feeders, 2 waterers, and automatic nipple system on side of shed. (need to make a lower level for quail) hubby gives the gourmet scratch every morning and I have an auto feeder that throws scratch 3x per day. i’m planning to order my game bird feed soon through amazon as our rural king stopped carrying it. so everyone is currently on 22% meatbird. I have to say I have been very lucky so far when it comes to overall flock health. I have not lost a chicken, turkey poult, or quail yet to illness, predator, or flock-induced injury.(knock on wood). my only losses have been in quail chicks due to hatch deformity, drowning, other brooder-related death, and my refusal to cull my crippled silkie sooner.
the quail are fast enough and small enough to evade the chickens. (and the partition gave them somewhat of a look don’t touch period) if I see the chickens hogging all the food, i spread some near the quail....same with scratch and treats. It’s kinda my little experiment right now as I build my quail flock. I am trying to watch their feet etc to see if i need to give them an area with a wire bottom. as i was filling feeder and waterer for the 8 in the hutch today, one of my christmas chicks decided to climb in and help himself to their food! it was cute! I may add some smaller cages to separate colors for breeding in the future, but hubby is trying to kick me out of my indoor shed space!!No judgement here. Are your chickens pretty okay as far as interaction wise with the quail? Our hens love to rudely pick on the young pullets, I can’t imagine how they would treat little quail.
Is that what happened?! My RK is fickle about what they get in. I thought they just didn’t have the gamebird now. I bought meat bird too. It’s a little better than the all-flock. They will survive.rural king stopped carrying it. so everyone is currently on 22% meatbird.
