You can stop when it dries up and scabs over, as far as stopping her from scratching I don't know. Hopefully she'll stop on her own.
She seems determined on ripping her scalp a new one.
I considered a makeshift cone but I fear that will stress her more than it could help.
Is scratching a common issue?

Try liquid bandage, I'm not familiar with Quail. It can't hurt maybe it will keep it from opening the wound back up.
Figured I should post a photo update, no liquid bandage yet, the instaclot formula seemed to have a somewhat oily effect....I should have figured as much. I'm not sure if the liquid bandage would stick.

Poor thing, looks like it's healing which is a good thing. Right now all you can do is let her mend. She'll have feathers growing back in no time. Wish I had taken pics of my poor hen when she was scalped, she's on the mend and almost has all her feathers back. 🙂 but I was so distraught all I wanted to do was save her... Good look !!!
