Quail hen scalped! HELP!!! (GRAPHIC)

You can stop when it dries up and scabs over, as far as stopping her from scratching I don't know. Hopefully she'll stop on her own.

She seems determined on ripping her scalp a new one.
I considered a makeshift cone but I fear that will stress her more than it could help.
Is scratching a common issue?

Try liquid bandage, I'm not familiar with Quail. It can't hurt maybe it will keep it from opening the wound back up.

Figured I should post a photo update, no liquid bandage yet, the instaclot formula seemed to have a somewhat oily effect....I should have figured as much. I'm not sure if the liquid bandage would stick.

I’ve never had this happen but maybe try gauze around the talons to stop it from creating a hole?

Poor thing, looks like it's healing which is a good thing. Right now all you can do is let her mend. She'll have feathers growing back in no time. Wish I had taken pics of my poor hen when she was scalped, she's on the mend and almost has all her feathers back. but I was so distraught all I wanted to do was save her... Good look !!!
