Raccoon in duck coop

It's amazing what we do when we have too. We have to protect our selves and our animals. But it sure can be hard. Ever cornered a opossum? My dogs did once and boy that thing showed it's teeth and growled . Thankfully it was on the other side of the fence.
My mom has 4 dobermans. One day they found a opossum playing dead and they brought it into the house. When it finally came to, the dogs chased it all over the house. My mom was freaking out. She called me and said come kill it. I live 5 hours away, lol. Finally it scurried out the back patio doors.
I have encountered raccoons, foxes, feral cats, porcupines, and one fischer. Most of the critters have surprisingly stayed away. I suspect it's because of my dog, cat, and they know death awaits them here.

Oh my gosh that would be scary having one in the house, so far only a live bird and a chipmunk our cat was nice enough to bring inside.

Having 5 dogs here I am sure keeps most preds away during the day. At night they can come around all they want everyone is locked up tight.
Do you also have Wolverine? Now that isn't an animal I'd want to walk up on.

I don't think so. I haven't seen any. My cat has brought in a huge toad and mice. He likes to bring in baby mice and play with them under my bed.
I found this print out hunting. I think it might be a coyote, but a friend said we have bobcats around here too.

Mine are locked up tight at night too.

Sorry @Morgan282 for taking over your thread.

That definitely looks like a large cat track.

You might be surprised as to who owns guns in your neighborhood. However, you can't go shooting off guns in neighborhoods. ;)
That's ver true, there are a few ranges around me so I'm sure there is a large population of people with guns. You're also right, you can't go shooting them even on your property in a neighborhood so either way it wouldn't have been a possibility for me, I would have been stuck with the options in this thread!!!

We had a opossum get under our house, break down the flex duct and was living in it! Hubby and our boy thought it just fell down and went under and reconnected it. . :lau
So then it was trapped and tried to push the vent cover up and come inside. :gig
Somehow our boy made a noose and got it roped and pulled it out. :lau kinda felt sorry for it. It thought it had a nice warm place to live

One time use? Why? I’ve trapped many in mine. Been using the same traps for years.
(Actually accidentally trapped more squirrels than other varmits this year, I release the squirrels, but possums and raccoons aren’t so lucky here)
we were trapping squirrels one year for training our squirrel hunting dogs (all squirrels were released unharmed btw) but a raccoon got in the trap and mangled it!
