I am actually a bit excited to get new chicks. I am going to test each of my adult hens to see which one will be the nicest to the babies and "mother hen " them.


I did that with an Orpington I had. this was very sad-- I had a hen that sat on 3 eggs. I let her keep them. When they hatched, only 2 hatched. It startled her and she clawed the head of one, it died, and one looked good. BUT -- it lived 3 days, its intestines came out when it pooped , poor baby. It was so cute too and the hen liked it.

WELL - McMurray Hatchery hasn't sent me an email yet saying the chicks have been shipped - I pray they dont show up at the post office on a Saturday Praying they get here by Friday- Iowa to Wa. ???????????

Well, the poor babies made it to Seattle, they sat ALL DAY in MN.​

I hope to get a call this morning, I dont know how long it takes Seattle to load up it is a 3 hour drive to here, So???
