Redoing the bathroom - Your opinions needed! *!*Update pg 6*!*

We went out and looked at a few colors. Since we are going to be here another couple few years Im going to risk not so BOLD colors but also not such "drabby" ones either.

Here is what Ive done with the light fixtures..
Ive done the same to the light switch and knobs

This is the color of my bathroom which it is popular with my side of the family and the realtor that came over and looked at it said it is very calming.

Sweet Emily is the paint color, its blue-ish purplish in color. It looked dark when I painted it and now seven years later, it has lightened up since then. I woudl love to replace the vinyl floor since it turned yellow instead of light gray/blue patterns.

Ignore the towel on the window, I had the laced curtains washed that day.

Got them from Menards, just put it at the level of the wall, not the floor and air nail them to the studs. We had to tear out the bathroom and it was a major job itself. Tearing out the back wall where the one piece shower tub combo had to be installed and put the studs back in and insulate the walls. The bathroom was the warmest room besides DD's room in the winter. That old house of ours was not insulated.

My bathroom faucet is a pretty neat item that I really like.

Satin nickel, it's arched high like a kitchen set. Best part is that it
swivels from side to side just like the kitchen. Makes washing some
things super easy.

I mounted the tub/shower faucets on a black and nickle 'house number"
plates from Lowes. Actually looks pretty fancy.

Of course, match it all up. Light fixtures, switch plates, heater vents, faucets,
towel bars. Everything has to match in my world.

Our bathrooms are carpeted. (I like carpet) Only room not carpeted is the kitchen
and that's because she won't let me.

Marble countertops, sinks...a must for me.
Same with the shower doors. I don't like shower curtains.

Her paint is a pale, pale blue. Mine is in a light green. Light colors through out
the house. Light curtains and big windows in this house.

That beadboard look is fairly cheap here...a place sells it at $2.00 a 4x4 piece.
White, but you can paint to taste. Not my taste.

And of course, use GFI outlets in the bath and kitchen area.

I don't know how to post pictures. But I think we have a pretty decent place.

I would love a shower door but I would hit my elbows.

If I would have to do it all over again, I would not have gotten the tub. I would go for the bigger shower stall only. I would have to tear the bathtub shower combo in pieces because there is no way it will get out of the door nor I want to tear out the back wall to the backdoor. It is fiberglass but I don't know whats wrong with it but once you step into it now, you can feel the ridges (from the mold)on the floor and a hairline fracture on the side of the tub if someone very very heavy has stepped on top of the tub. I hate the shower curtain too!

And do not overlook the chance to upgrade your plumbing as
you do this.

Make sure you have good pipes, and really good shut-off valves
on everything.

*the shut-off valve itself blew on the commode in my bath a while
back. Don't know why, just a few years old. Blew the top right off
one night, late. Make quite a mess before I could get to the main
shut off outside.

At least we were home.

My tub shower is normal sized. Nothing special.

My wife's is great big. Big enough for two Spooks.
Like EweSheep says, if I ever take it out, I'll have to cut
it into pieces first.
