There are 'busy' Goldens and Labs, and 'quiet' individuals in both breeds, and sex is irrelevant in this. Show lines vs. field lines make the most difference! Best to meet the parents of the puppy if possible, and talk to the breeder.
Mixes can be anything, and it's much less likely that you can meet parents, or have any idea about them. A very active youngster is going to be a very active adult, most likely!
In general, Chessies tend to be quiet house dogs and active outside, and they are MUCH more likely to be bred as dual purpose, with show dogs also hunting, with no obviously separate breeding lines, the opposite of Goldens especially.
