Ribh's D'Coopage

I looked at this photo @WhoDatChick and my first thought was "What beautiful chooks!"
:rolleyes::lau

Still beautiful not withstanding the species :D
Oh, that’s funny! Trying to get away without wearing the specs huh ... I do that and squint really hard to make things out... it hurts my eyes

And thank you :)

See @WhoDatChick , without felines whatever would you do with that little niche? I’m sure they will be super happy with their tree! My cats loved theirs, sadly there just wasn’t room for it in the trailer.

@Ribh your video with the girls is awesome! I love seeing how they react to you sitting out with them, the new camera does a wonderful job on it and they are beautiful birds.

Congrats on breeding show quality birds @rjohns39 ! I really admire your working with an endangered breed to keep it around. Too many heritage breeds are lost or degrade with the focus on high production traits above all else that has become so prevalent in farming lately

@Aussie-Chookmum I had a “Pepper” like moment yesterday as well with my little Hoppy, I got all the other free range girls and Sammy into the barn, but she just wouldn’t come! I had actually started to look for signs of eagle attack, thinking maybe she was taken while I was napping. She was trying to roost in our crates doors and windows! I’m glad I didn’t need a ladder, I’dve been hooped if she was up in a tree!

As to the Coccidiosis possibility, it isn’t hard to treat with the Amprollium if that is what it is. If you can get a poop sample to a vet they can tell you for sure if that’s what you’re facing, and prescribe the medication for you. Best of luck with it, and it’s good you caught it early!

.. you noticed! And you are EXACTLY right... I thought the same thing when I put it there! :D

Hoping your shoulder heals up quick... I can sort of feel your pain.. my shoulder acts up from time to time.. as in now .. and it sure is painful and limits range of motion big time :tongue... I started the elliptical and now the shoulder bites :barnie... you can’t win..

Thanks @Kris5902 . The new camera was one reason for doing it. I wanted to see how easy it was to use & the quality of the footage. Pity about the operator.:lau

The best moments always happened when you don't have the camera handy though, don't they? The other day Kirby decided he was going to join me in the chook pen for some hard loving & lept from the verandah to the chook house roof & then onto my shoulder & set up such a squawking & a bawaking though interestingly it seemed to be less about fear & more jealousy that that durned cat was in their pen with their rooster getting loved on! :gigI wasn't overly happy. Apart from the fact it is impossible to do anything else when Kirby is having a love session he has a very high prey drive & while most of my girls are waaay too big for him to tackle Lottie is a different matter. Not that he's tried, it's just I don't trust him.

Wow, What a stunning chicken. And look at those feathers on his/her feet! Like a flamenco dancer!

The first egg is very exciting. Kidlet looks really chuffed :)

BG is a sweetie. She is the first chick I ever hatched. She's very special to me. :love

Mason was super excited! He wants to only eat the white eggs now, because he knows those are from his chickens.

It's funny how they think of us as roosters! If there's a squabble all I do is say "hey! " in a sharp way and all the nastiness dissolves into thin air.

I don't really trust Blossom either, although her predation so far is zilch, and she's scared of Mary who chased her one time. But still, my chickens are vulnerable and I don't want them frightened or hurt.

Well my wait wasn't long... My uncle passed this morning. on one hand I'm happy he's no longer suffering on the other I'm so going to miss him.

:hugs I know no words will ease the pain but love & support. :hugs
