Ribh's D'Coopage

On a lighter and more chickeny note, I got another serving of egg and salmon into Sandy while the other two were on the nest! She loved it. Ate every crumb.
Wonderful! She is a lucky chicken to have found you!

I still hope and pray for change... we have a very long way to go as a society though. I do believe in the little things making a huge difference. The last 5 years we lived in the city, I would take $200-300 every December, have it loaded onto Tim Hortons and McDonald’s gift cards in $15-$20 amounts, and write up Cards with positive messages and well wishes for the next year. The weeks around Christmas I would hand them out to the homeless and panhandlers on my late night commute home through our downtown core.

I really like to think that the small changes we can make as individuals in communities will one day trickle up and maybe the “powers that be” will one day emulate them. As to the atrocities inflicted on women, children, and marginalized people in many countries... I only have one violent and permanent solution, which is counter to all my previous statements, but some things cannot be forgiven in this world. And sadly, it is not just a “developing county” issue, we have many missing/murdered indigenous women on a particular highway here in BC, so many it has been dubbed “the highway of tears”.

That is one happy chicken! Just beware... I’ve heard that a lot of fish can give the eggs a somewhat fishy taste! :p

I just knew you would have something to contribute on this conversation!;) What a wonderful idea!

We worked with our homeless youth for many years keeping the hostel open all day @ Christmas because it was often a bad time for the kids, even those who saw their families. I saw too often those with the power to facilitate change refuse to act & it is so heart rendering I keep my sights focused on what I can personally do these days.

You are both very inspirational.

I can only do eggs and salmon on weekends. Weekday mornings I'm a bit pressed for time.
That probably keeps it @ the 10% treat level. Which makes it a good thing. ;)

Good news! Long ago I made a commitment to do some chainsawing for a buddy today. Later, I realised the date clashes with the royal show, which is an awesome opportunity to see all the chicken breeds, so I was secretly disappointed to spend the day chainsawing. But this morning my buddy messaged to say, "Beautiful day, wanna go to the show instead? We can do the chainsawing another time."

:woot Big chicken shed, here I come! Get those roosters a-crowing and those hens blinking sweetly!

Awesome! Enjoy. :)

My father was a terrible romantic; my mother a far more prosaic sort. When they were first dating dad invited her to sail aboard his very first self built boat when she was launched. So he loaded mum aboard, & shoved this thing into the Brisbane river while cracking a bottle of champers over the bow. Unfortunately he had forgotten the bungs & down she went!:lau Mother & all. I very nearly wasn't!:gig

:lau:gig

I suppose it's hard to be creative and practical too! :gig

:barnie those Brit crochet folks! :gig:lau

That's amazing. I'm so grateful for your thoughtfulness and care.

Strangely, this is the second time such an amazing gift has come into my life. The day mum died, my best mate's mum was possessed by thoughts of mum's transition and my loss and knitted out a work of art in a scarf. So many different stitches, a colour here, a gold chain there, long fringes. Took her a couple of days, then it showed up tied to the front door. I had no idea and my heart and mind were permanently relieved by her kindness.

That's so sweet MJ. It brought a tear to my eye. Kindness and thoughtfulness always do...and... there I go again!:hit
