Ribh's D'Coopage

Sounds good. I hope amprolium is the right treatment :fl

Dr Hill's book was full today, but he said he'd take a look at her between appointments. So I dropped her off an hour ago, with a note explaining her symptoms. He'll call once he's looked at her. I'll pick her up later.

Typically excellent professionalism from him, seeing her even though he's booked solid.
You are blessed. Even the visiting vet isn't here today & they quoted me an outrageous price just to see her ~ & that's before treatment! I'm not travelling with her in this heat. Our car's not air conditioned & I don't think the stress would help so I'm going to try The amprolium. I suspect Coccidiosis as she's got really thin suddenly. Just hope I've got it in time. I'm a truly lousy nurse. Just ask my kids.

He's excellent. It's a 30-40 minute drive in traffic, but he's worth it.

I'm surprised to learn you don't have ac in your car! Crikey. Some of my early cars were ovens in summer.
We bought it 2nd hand in winter & didn't realise the A/C was broken till we went to use it in summer. It's not a major issue as the car isn't used every day or for long periods usually. Our shops are only 10 minutes from the boat ramp. If I'm doing a long trip I try to leave super early & beat the heat that way.

If she's still sick tomorrow morning, would you consider taking her to a vet in Brissy?
Probably not. On top of everything else I'm pretty sure she's heat stressed. I've got an iced bottle hopefully cooling the air a little & I'm thinking of moving her back into the bathroom unless our breeze picks up again. It's a really hard call but on balance I think it's better not to stress her any more than I have too because stress is a major killer. If I still have major issues Tuesday I may have to bite the bullet with the visiting vet ~ if she makes it. Every time the heat climbs again she gets very sleepy.

Hugs @Ribh :hugs keep her as cool as you can in the meantime and it sounds as though you’re doing everything right. Praying she pulls through for you both. Those temperatures are awful, and to think of being in a feather coat in it? :fl Hopefully she perks up overnight for you. I would keep her in the coolest room you can. :fl

Thanks, Kris. I feel so inadequate @ times like this! I'll put her in the bathroom overnight. She can't roost like this.

I'm just catching up. I'm so sorry I wasn't around earlier. We will keep you both in our prayers.

Does she like scrambled eggs? Sometimes they will eat those even when they aren't feeling well. Frozen blueberries will work with mine to help cool them down as well if you want to try and chill her from the inside.

Don't blame yourself. Chickens are great at hiding when they are sick, many times until it is too late. We all can be and are surprised. Do the best you can for her, keep your head, and don't give up on her. You just never know.
