Ribh's D'Coopage

I think Maggie is a contender but I don't see her in the Aurora league just yet. I did notice today she was more interested in chasing Dotty away from the food than she was in eating it, which is a sure sign she has lost all sense of priorities!
I've seen that silly behavior from Aurora. When she does that, Hattie and Lilly tend to eat it all on her. Just foolish. 😆 🤣

I have nine chickens, and they are eating us out of house and home, and POOPING A LOT!!!
They keep me jumping cleaning and filling the feeders and waterers, cleaning their coop and run, and having long conversations with them, of course.
They also dig huge holes in the ground in the run. I mean, they keep busy all day, but they are keeping me busy too.
I am fortunate in that they all get along together very well (knock on wood), with minimal squabbles, usually over a tasty bug one of them finds and all of them want. :hmm
That's all you can ask. Yup, they keep you busy. But they are happy and healthy. That's the main thing.

I don't know what that means but I'm pretty sure the good side has cookies too 🍪🍪🍪
A friend of mine brought back my egg cartons yesterday and she had filled the spaces with little round cookies. :love

I think all alpha hens have that stare. How about this from Lilly?

My theory may be wrong. I can't find any photo of Daisy, the greatest hen ever, with that kind of stare. Her comb is just too jaunty for her to look intense. 🤣

I think this is the meanest face I can find.

@Ribh I just want to reassure you that you are not the only one with bonkers chickens.

First Dotty goes and Minnie watches

Then Minnie follows

And it was so much fun they go back to the beginning

Honestly they are nuts - they did this over and over before getting bored and going outside to plague Maggie.

Why do you think that is? I too have noticed that. I find myself also trending in your direction but many others seem to head in the opposite direction. I find it exhausting to harbor anger and resentment. It takes real work to be mean and spitefull.
Ñ hmmm
How hot was it? I have heard of chickens standing in the water on hot days. Maybe it's that. :idunno
Low 30's but the humidity is pretty high. :(

Yes. I know right? I have 6 and that is a lot for me. Their problems have totally scared me of from getting more. I do not think I could handle it.
I don't think it's numbers, Bob. It's more breed personalities + individual personalities. If they don't work there are problems. I've tried hard to avoid personality clashes, which means certain breeds are off limits for me & why I was so worried about the Vorwerks, because I didn't know enough about them. They look like they will fit in nicely ~ but that's sheer dumb luck, not good planning. All the others I chose as much for personalities that would be compatible with the girls I already have as for looks.
