Ribh's D'Coopage

I have seen it and that's why I placed 5 scattered nests several months ago. For a long time, your hens only had nests within the coop and I knew other people's hens lay all over, so I came up with the notion of scattering nests around the run. A moment ago I saw Janet checking the dust bin nest and a few days ago Ivy checked the wine barrel nest. So they're interested in the options while continuing to use the laundry basket. The next step is to remove some of the soil from the wine barrel so the hens can hide deeper within the barrel and put some straw in there.
Can we see pictures of the dust bin nest and the wine barrel nest? I am intrigued!

No worries!

Dust bin first. I thought perhaps it would work because it will always be dry. But maybe things sound funny in there?

And the wine barrel. Ivy squeezes in but she gets out again. I think it's too shallow. She might like it once I taken more of the soil out.

They used to lay in the bale of sugar cane mulch. Has that stopped?
Yes. I keep the bales under the nesting boxes where they have some shelter from the weather. That is outside the run & for the time being they are confined to the run

I found a volunteer Zinnia today. It was a lovely surprise.

Ive been so busy at work, but it's a good busy. I received a promotion today. I'm now 1 of 2 Vault leads. Basically we sell 1.3 million dollars a month and there was 1, now 2, persons involved in the inventory and quality control for all of these products. I put 12 hours in today and walked over 10,600 steps. I'm tired but oh so happy where I work. This has been one of the best things to happen for our family.
