RIP Chicken... :(

Yesterday, my family let our 13 chickens outside to free range...and only 12 came back inside. My dad and I looked through our woods to see if we could find feather evidence. If a coyote got it, there would be feathers dragged through the woods. We found nothing. I theorize it was a hawk or something since we found no feathers. My chickens were all spooked when we went to put them back inside. I'm pretty sure between the coyotes and hawks and whatnot, they have PTSD. Poor things.
On the bright side, this has convinced my dad to let me get more chicks...

I’m so sorry this has happened.
If the others are traumatized, can keep them cooped up at least a couple of weeks.
Especially if you suspect was a hawk attack.

This is a good point. I had a game hen that went broody in the bushes and I didn’t see her for three days. She might show up yet. It’s still possible she won’t of course. I also had a chicken go missing recently with no evidence so I get it. I also ordered more chicks to help myself recover
