Hello,
I have one of my chickens who is around 5 years old and it stopped laying, except it rarely does lay an egg. This hen always used to come to other hens who are broody and force them to leave then sits instead of them for a few days then also leaves when it was younger. Anyways, now it's its first time getting broody without another hen actually sitting before it. It sat on a collection of eggs, and it stayed on it for 2 days straight. I also brought one of my eggs from my other chicken which I am sure is fertilized and I gave it.

I have a rooster which is probably around 10 years old probably a bit less, and it stopped fertilizing eggs. Just now, I saw that rooster sitting next to that hen. I thought it was just sitting there casually and wanted to scare him off so that the place remains for the hen alone. But I was surprised it didn't run away when I came to it or even touched it. What's weird is that I used two fingers to lift the leg slightly and I saw that he's sitting on atleast 2 eggs, while the hen next to him is sitting on atleast 4. I don't understand what on earth is happening, because a rooster isn't supposed to sit on eggs!

Roosters do on rare occasions will go broody, & hatch out eggs, then raise the chicks.
Sometimes they'll sit on eggs for short periods(Had some do this).

Others will make a nest for a hen to lay eggs in.

Not quite sure if that's the case. Many of the things "not supposed to happen" will be found happening in nature. It's not unheard of for roosters to spend time in the nest, encouraging hens to use them, offering moral support to their hens/waiting for them to lay, and even going as far as helping with brooding.

I personally haven't had one attempt part-time brooding, but it can happen. I believe there is a story on here of a serama rooster hatching a small batch of eggs, but I'm not sure.

I hear nothing worrisome about the way your rooster is behaving, quite the contrary actually. I find him to be an amazing rooster that your rooster spends time to help his hens so much. If he's acting otherwise healthy, I'd thank him for being such a good boy

Ok. I wasn't sure if the hen gave him some of the eggs or what because all the eggs were under her but suddenly some eggs became under him.

I will see if it will leave tomorrow or stay.
Thanks for helping.
