Hi Everyone, Just a quick update. The Delaware pullet that was injured by my Female German Shepherd is on the mend. She is not 100% but eating and drinking and she is walking around now. Many thanks to Tammy. I could not have done it without you. And everyone else for their advice.
The ladies continue to lay and they are all doing well. My New Year's hatch are growing fast and will be laying in 2 months or so. I am excited because I will finally get olive eggers and hopefully some blue/green eggs to add to the egg basket. Lord only knows what I will do with it all. I am drowning as it is.
The scruffy hens are adjusting well. When I finally put them in the coop w/ the other ladies, the feathers were FLYING. Even though they free ranged together. WOW! They are some tough chicks. In my usual fashion, I sat back and let them work it out but a few times I wanted to intervene. It got pretty ugly. I hatched a offspring from one of the scruffy hens and it is a roo. I just about rung his neck yesterday because he was having a all out fight with the injured Delaware pullet. She has gotten along with everyone and is so laid back that I could not believe the roo wanted to start something with her.
I cannot believe that I went to the first SD meetup without chickens and within a half a year or so I went from ZERO to WAY too many.
I hope everyone has a GREAT time on Saturday. I wish I could be there but it is doubtful I can make it.
Nancy
