Secrete to keeping silkies alive

A year ago, I would have thought you were exaggerating. But this year, I have an assortment of leghorns. The exchequer leghorns are dumbest birds I have ever had. They cannot find a gate, the ONLY gate, never moved in their whole lives.

I am dividing my flock, and while they are cuter than nothing, they are in the go away group.
But I could have swore you moved that gate yesterday 🧐. This right here is the reason I will never keep cream leg bars again. They were so dumb. Now if they had been dumb and cute maybe they would have stayed but I only have room for so many dumb/ unprofitable animals and the pair silkies already full that spot

RIGHT?!?! Mines such a bad false alarm she's constantly getting pecked in the head by her flock mates. She doesn't even have a full crest! The silkies still panic at every scream! If it ever was a real alarm call they'd be doomed with their freeze/ostrich/I'm a rock routine!
When they freeze like that or are just staring at the sky we call it looking for the mothership.

I mean A for effort right?

I used to have 2 Satins who would go to bed on the ground in the middle of the yard, I had to go put them inside every night 🤦‍♀️😂
See I thought I be smart and buy an automatic door because I get home late some shifts to help combat them going in late. They should put a warning on the box that says doesn't work on bantams.:th

I swear I ended up carrying the silkies in the first 6 months of their lives.

Nope! Silkies are definitely the problem children 😂
Ugh, indeed. I got a rooster and a hen almost a year ago. My hen, that I thought was smart walked into my ducks kiddie pool over night and drowned a few months ago. :( My rooster is a savage little feral chicken. He sleeps outside cause I can't catch him.

My current Silkie is the only one I’ve had that’s smart enough to go to bed at night 😂

Silkies easy? aha. and yet I swore I'd never own this novelty pet. I mean what are they good for other than entertainment? I always thought id have some brood some eggs but they never make it that far.

Dang, my silkie rooster is the sweetest and has made it to 4 years far outliving the hens. I was raising a duck for a friend when I originally bought the first pair of silkies and the duck pool with an inch of water in it was the first ones demise.
