September Hatch-a-long!

Pics
With eggs looking to be a day or 2 ahead went ahead and locked em down about 12 hours ahead of day 18. have a trip early tomorrow so diidn't wanna be doing it in a hurry as will be gone half the day but then got apples to get ready for apple sauce and pie filling to get done and canned and just got a shipment of 10-15 books I won from an author give away and can always start rearranging the rest of the house that the incubator isn't in, hoping can just keep to busy to think about it as all 17 looking good
hatch incubator is holding steady at 99 and humidity at 65%

Those ones are all dried out and fluffy now! Congrats! :celebrate Make sure you tell your mom that they didn't hatch in a 350-degree oven, neither! :lau I'm still laughing about that one!

Thank you :D they're pretty darn adorable! All of em were pretty much dry at that point.

Mom cracked me up too. She's a nut!

Sounds like you're going to be busy. I think the ladies must now know what guys feel like when they're waiting for a baby :gig

I tried staying out of the room with bator in it. Somehow I kept finding myself in there.

That's why I like it when the chicks hatch out a day earlier then expected while I am sleeping like my last 2 just did.

Omygosh your quail fluffies are super adorable igorsmistress. What breed are they? It looks like they hatched out all different colors (or brown variation at least), so cute :lovecongrats!

Tomorrow at 10am is day 18 for the rest of mine, but I'm gone all day, so going into lockdown tonight.
The person I ordered eggs from recommended putting down string to keep the eggs from rolling when they hatch, has anybody else tried this? With my serama hatch, the first one popped out almost 20hours ahead of the rest, and then was rolling the other eggs around, I'll never know if the 7/12 hatch rate was because of egg rolling or just a serama-genetic thing  now I'm paranoid lol.......

@Raptorchick
Thanks they're Coturnix quail. The guy I got the eggs from has a ton of different colors. One looks dark brown with a reddish tint, some are kinda greyish and there's some white ones. I don't really know colors yet, I'm learning those now.

Yay for lock down! Can't wait for pics. I can tell you the quail were all over the place as they hatched but I didn't have issues. I don't know about chicken eggs though, my broody hatched those.

that lasted a long time, got back home and peeked in through the big window but did not open, lots of rocking going on in there at almost end of day 18 and can't tell, if have to drink mint and chamomile tea that knocks me out, but look like their is a chip in the outer shell of one of the eggs

also got one broody that all of a sudden won't leave her nest for anything since yesterday but no clue how many eggs she has under her

A chip in an egg, huh? If you go to sleep now, you're going to miss it!

I know that this thread is supposed to be about hatching, but many chickens are drowning in the hurricane Florence area.

1.7 million chickens drown as NC rivers swollen by Florence, and it's not over yet! All of that rain on the hill and mountain tops will still be making it's way downhill still!

yep, but they are just at end of day 18, can't tell if it's from all the rocking or it's actually going to pip that early, which is a possibility as it ran about 1 degree higher during incubation and dry incubated, gave up on my hens or their eggs following the rules as they forgot to read em lol
