Setting the week of August 22 (or so... ) Everyone join!! You know you want to!

So my Serama hen went broody and I gave her two eggs. So now I have 6 eggs, but I candled just now and I have an embryo whith the hen and an embryo in the incubator. 2 iffy ones.

I am doing really well in my quest to stay more hands off with this hatch, and only quickly candled last night...going to wait till Wednesday (day 7) to candle again, since I really did only a glance to make sure I have development in eggs this first time. Next time I'll do a "head count" :D So far it is lpoking pretty promising, so I am excited. I have eggs in there which should end up being some really pretty, colorful babies

I will probly be the last one to finish this hatch... my eggs were just shipped today! :) I hope its ok...

Hello Obsession.

I can't leave my plan alone. So after doing more reading I think I need to start turning my eggs. Now I can't decide if I should take them out of the carton and lay them on their side or leave them in the carton and just start tilting it 3 or 5 times a day. Why does it have to be an odd number?

I leave mine in the carton, not straight up, but tilted with the large end up. Then I have been just *rolling* them in place by hand. I remember reading why the odd number thing, but I am not sure it matters... Hens can't count by odds and evens :D
