Do Coyotes hunt during the day? I had quite a massacre happen this morning between 9:30-10:30. Mostly quail size chicks and young birds scattered over several acres. Plenty with pulled tails. The dead were usually wet with bite marks on the backs and feathers pulled. I didn't find any eaten birds, but there are still about a dozen young birds unaccounted for. I have not had a dog attack like this one.

Well that sucks. Does sound like a dog though. Doubtful a coyote would do that. Too smart to let food lay like that. Raccoons would and while it’s not totally normal they will hunt during the day. I’ve caught quite a few around that time frame.
