You do you I've never used mulch for birds, I wouldn't think adding straw on top would do any harm.

When I cover my drop pens should I leave the vent at the top or bottom? Cover two or three of the sides?

Depends on how cold it gets. Ventilation is good for birds keeps sickness down, but if it gets real cold I'd suggest doing like havoc does an wrap em but I don't think you need to worry bout that down yonder. Give em some shelter but I don't think you need to go crazy.

@hillbilly91 most guys just cover the pens on top or down the sides but not all the way. Front and back are open along with about a foot or so on each side.

Fixing roofs. Got 20 done today. The only problem with straw is they will kick a lot out and fill their water cups. Doesn’t bother me though since I dump them every day anyway.

I still have a few more to do. Usually I’ll do all 46 domes at the same time but I replaced some over the summer.

I'm for sure covering two of the side's just didn't know if I should cover a third side or if I should put the gap at the top or the bottom of pen. There will be a 8"gap with what I'm using
