Centra I have 4 dogs. 2 of them are old 14 and 15. The other 2 are dobermans. Not much good for yard dogs. Lol

Dobermans could make an excellent starting point. Do they have interest in your poultry yard?

Not really they are kept away from it. One will chase em a little ways but stops right when he gets close. The other one could care less.

The better one has an interest in the chickens since would be easier to train to go in when chickens disturbed.

Now that I think about when the birds start going nuts (usually a hawk) he jumps up and runs to the door. I'm still setting up the electric fence though. Can't take anymore chances.

Use both. My dogs trained to use openings to get inside areas with chickens. Predators seem not able to figure out openings and they can be pinch points when dogs engage them.
