I fed my Bennett's today letting them eat out of my hand as usual all of a sudden the rooster stole my measuring cup out of my hand and took off running as if he had a cricket. All I could do is bust out laughing, I would've expected that from a youngster but not a two yr old.

Sounds like my 5 year old rooster out here. I went out to light the burn can and had the lighter in my hand, I showed the girls it wasn't food, turned around and he snatched that lighter so fast and took off across the yard with it. By the time I got to where he was he just stopped looked at it where he dropped it then gave me a dirty look like I had tricked him.

Roosters do some of the funniest things some days.

I have posted these before elsewhere depicting some of my games in flight. These demonstrations are not pushing the birds anywhere near their limits. Longer flights are much more difficult to stage and my cameras are simply not good enough to record. Birds here had fly many times before I figured out how to use start button with a tripod,

First good light as they fly towards me. I am in plain sight to them.

Poor lighting and flying more up hill. Actual distance actually between 225 and 250 feet but actual landing sight can not be nailed down.

This is where we can beat the pants of those other threads, those involving other games included. American Games are omnipotent and as trainable than any breed out there. Our birds are prettier to boot. I am going to invest whatever is interesting to make so this thread is genuinely educational. Hopefully others that are better than I do similar. A little science will be involved.

I have had some of my birds fly the length of three football fields end to end on a daily basis. They did so just to avoid being caught out in open on return trip from foraging fence row in a L-shape about half way around a 40 acre corn field. By time they got into the final gliding approach to barnyard they were 15 to 30 feet above ground and flying a lot faster than my videos above depict. Videos show average velocity of 18 to 25 mph but in the longer flights they are pushing well into the mid 30's as was faster than I could keep pace with while on that kid beating Hodaka 80 I used to have even when I had good dirt access road right under their flight patch. It is the kind of stuff that would be cool with Shubins competition idea. I do not think they have the same top end speed as wild turkeys but they can reach it faster. The chickens are also a lot more maneuverable. I had a 4 lb 10 oz cock and his hen that could fly a couple hundred yards and then midflight turn 180 degrees to shoot through a 10 wide opening no more than 6 feet from the top a hay loft that was over 30 hall and then land on a support beam another 20 feet into the barn.

I have three game hens that someone gave me. I want to use them for broodies. Any way, two of them have crests. I have not seen any hens with crests pictured on the threads. Is this unusual?
The guy that gave me the chickens says they are green leg muff games.

(I think he doesn't know any more about games than I do.) It's OK I just wanted broodies anyway.
