hi all ,glad i missed out the on breeding on the man fighting thing, i do no put up with manfighter at all around here thay are dead  . in my opinion it starts in the brood pin just like anything else feathers, legs, body, color, ( my opinion ) chickens are not way like dogs .   a chicken brain is size of a pea a dog well i think you get were this going . mike fis.            p.s. people think fowl are like dogs ,cats, horses, and so on thay are nothing more than fowl to me i love the blood lines i have had over he years bad traits are breed in or out and i have made my share of them breeding mistakes believe me , i have be lucky enuff to meet some of the best breeders in my time and some that was not that big and all are friends in sport to me . try this i have a mel sims black hen kills every chick she hatches breed her to a cock i have had for over 20 years good family in every way now the stag hits the wire everytime you walk by . so my fault for trying that . but like someone said we are here to learn so i gave the stag to a young man last week he said he would handle him down , we will see ....................again mike fis.
What you just said is my point. You never know til you try. I guess if your afraid of culling a bunch of birds it's best not to mess with any type of man fighter.

While we're on the subject what is the definition of a manfighter in your opinions?
Penned birds act much differently with interaction than when loose or on a tie cord.
How about if you let a "manfighter" out of his pen with you standing within legs reach but he goes after another bird that is nearby and ignores you?

After a recent workout my "manfighter" or whatever u want to call it did not show any aggression toward me and was easily handled and 100% focused on the task at hand. 30 minutes later when by himself on a cord he would show aggression toward me when approached.

My 2 cents worth is.
I have 2 Thai stags, same momma and daddy.Stag 3A was bred to a pure Thai hen, never made any type mean or aggressive move towards me.Stag 5A is the devil himself.Hits the wire, knocks water jugs off when you try to fill them, gets rough with the hens if your close to his pen, evil to the bone.Neither stag has had a hand on them since being trimmed last year. Both have been removed from the brood pens and put on cords, you can't tell them apart now.My 4 year old grand son can catch 5A on the cord now and hold him.The daddy to these stags is kitten gentle always has been, their momma is evil with a capital E,she kills every thing she can get ahold of,whoops dogs, kids, goats, nothings safe. .
