I lose a few to predators but having the young ones free ranging is far better for em if you can do it. Trap and shoot the predators. I don't care what anybody says. If you stay on top of it your losses will be minimal.
Actually I meant it's better for me. I have had less problems free ranging most of the young birds than keeping them all penned. Pecking, killing each other, cleaning pens etc.. I still have penned a few from hatch for the ones I absolutely wanted to keep.

Yeah I know. For the guys that can but won't cause they're afraid of losing one or two, well to each their own. I can also shoot off my deck in any direction which helps.

I cannot shot in my yard or anywhere except a shooting range or BLM land (Which is scarce around here).
