You're always gonna be at the mercy of the shipper. Hopefully u pick one that gives a crap. Like writing hatching eggs on the box. I highly suggest that not be done I did an experiment two boxes sent same place (N.Texas) one with hatching eggs one without the hatching eggs box had scrambled eggs the other box great hatch. I believe it brings unwanted attention. Also no "settling" of eggs on a counter in the summer for a day. I also believe being shipped in a hot truck/plane can start development and then people let them sit on a counter or wherever in 70°ish temps for 24hrs could kill developing embryos. Straight from box to hen or incubator. Do what u will just my opinion. A lot of hard headed know it all's here (not this thread) that only do as they read and as a result almost everyone has negligible at best hatch rates with shipped eggs. I honestly don't think I've ever had lower than 50% development at least not that I know of

Sdm, I've also noticed that if you ship express overnight the eggs don't travel down the conveyor belts and you get them faster.

Birdman, no that pointy egg and round egg sexing is absolute bullsh*t. We were just joking.

what about the rooster dummy anyone use?......I got a dummy to distract my butcher so I can feed/water and collect eggs....soon as I find a replacement which will be late this season he will be replaced until then I'm stuck with this guy. when I tried to walk into the coop he was up on the perches and as soon as he came down I got the rooster....better the rooster then my leg...it did work I was able to do my work and then leave....

a couple of weeks ago I tried to handle the bird just like I normally do and for some reason he wasn't having it.....that was the initial start of him being no so friendly

Thats cool. I have one made at work out of foam on the waterjet. I need to paint it tho, because I think the colors is what tricks them...
Pretty cool.. how much did that cost?
