Games are great at not biting the hand that feeds them contrary to popular belief. My spangled is great around my kids and anything besides another rooster you have to get in there and socialise with em. And tough as nails is an understatement if its in them they wont stop till they drop, and seem to be healthier birds compared to the common layers of today.

Some have man eatters though this may have been ok for the rings, derbys etc most with kids and such these days tend to rid themselves of them. As a bird of said caliber could do some damage not to mention infections. Hopefully you find out his heritage Games in general are a site to behold.

@flypen took my son out to the lake today. Didn't catch much. During the paddle back we passed two guys fishing. One guy got his lure caught up in a tree. (Think they were drunk). My son points at em while laughing his *ss off and says "look they're fishing in the trees" really loud. I'm trying to quiet him down but he just keeps on going. Lol
I could here them muttering and cursing. Lol

to the contrary. The absolute last thing a handler wants is to have a gamecock fitted with impliments in a pit going after him or any other person. Man fighting in the pit was way worse than to have in the pen.

Oh OK I see what u talking about now ;)sooo other than the..... how do I say this, more known reason for having game. What do u guys in the game industry want, look for and breed for... What is the purpose of having several chickens in your yard that won't get along? Other that the fact that they are just gorgeous. I have seen games at some poultry shows. Are those a different kind of game? Is that what u mean when u say what he is from or by? I obviously really know diddly squat about them haha but I know that the hens are good mommas and the roosters are some of the prettiest birds in the chicken world. I know that some people don't like them or have a bad idea about them. But I can't say a bad thing really about my boy. I'm really interested to find out what he comes from :) oh and im in the phoenix area and I have to say this rooster had no problems with the hell heat of 120°. I lost some of the chicks I had got for my daughter to show...and our layers panted and where stressed despite all my efforts to cool them. I didn't loose any layers but I have the ISA and brown Leghorns and they are lighter breeds. But they where still stressed and he just strutted his beautiful self around and dug holes for his lady's to sit in. It didn't seam to faze him at all. So they bust be tuff as nails.
for me I used to raise them yrs ago and decided to start again a few yrs ago for what I would call workplace stress therapy. I don't have many now probably about 30 but that's total I have a few that aren't game chickens. As far as what is looked for that's something that you would have to read about and learn on your own time. There's no way to write what takes years to learn. And I don't know if the poultry show ones are the same I don't go to poultry shows. You will have really good broodys having games. That's all some people use I don't own any incubators anymore I let mother nature do her job she's way better at it than I was lol

@centrarchid. Last night about 10:30 I scanned the yard with my gun and light. Saw eyes near my shed maybe 5 yds inside the woodline. I hesitated since I didn't want to smoke one of my wife's cats. (Knew better a foxes eyes shine 5 times as bright and they blink, cats don't). I realized it was a fox as it turned away. D*mn!
12:30 am I looked again and started scanning same spot but noticed a fox already on the run all the way on the other side of the yard headed toward the front. I flew down the steps and ran around the front yard but had just enough time to see him blasting through the woods in the other side of the street. 1st fox was a red and the second was either a gray or a pup since it looked darker in color. Once they start getting bold like that they start making mistakes.

That's what I'm thinking. It's a lot of work raising chicks hatching chicks ordering chicks. And shit still happens and its like " damn after all that "...mother nature does best and knows best. Just let her do her thing...
