I use a brooder if some sort too sometimes. They’re not in there long enough to warrant building any special project other than a wooden box.
I have a few pens that I use for chicks and adult birds at varying times of the year. They have no bottom and get moved daily. Not perfect, but it works---I hatch in small batches throughout the whole summer so I don't have a huge number at one time.

I’ve used an incubator plenty of times. In that case I put them in a wooden box in the shed with heat lamp. When they fly out of the box they go outside in a pen at night. Left out during the day, and put back at night. Usually I’ll have to physically put them back once or twice. After about 2 days they go back on their own. I leave food and water in the pen with door open. After awhile they quit going back and sleep in the trees. That’s where they’ll be until I pen them.

This is how big when they get dumped outside since this one clearly isn’t in its box anymore.

Went out gave the birds warm water an a bit of chopped carrots/greens mixed with regular feed this morning and Boys it's cold with this wind.
I chew up the carrots and spit them back out for the chickens. no joke... easier than knife and I dont have a blender.. usually just the ends I dont eat
