I remember my father getting a trio of the peacomb Miners and it became a who had better blues between them and the Typewriters, on certain crosses the Typewriters would leave you slammed against the other wall and the Miners added cut to just about everything he crossed them with but not the aggression. I wish he would've crossed the two blue families, just to see the outcome.

There's your throw back, it wouldn't be hard to get the roundheads coming back by using them.
If the birds were solid color to begin with and blue is incorporated, inbreeding isn't necessary to get solid black birds back out. Blue x Blue should produce blue, black and splash. The black can be black or it could be black red. It just depends what all is mixed up in there.
