The brown and the black chicks are not going to be colored up as red quill. Only the two with chipmunkish stripes and doodles on chicks will exhibit the proper red quill color pattern. Hen carries an allele I lost when my birds lost ability to throw red quill.

I have pictures of brown chicks that I showed you a few years ago that turned out like a redquill.

You may be like my brother in not distinguishing red quill color pattern from brown-breasted brown red. It appears the Red Quill lines do not always breed true when it comes to the color patter. That is what I gather from reading old accounts on Red Quill strains.

Go searching for it. I posted it a couple years ago. He’s brown and on my weight bench. We had this same discussion then.
