I'm so glad you got them out of the loop and that hopefully your chickens will be safe for a long time to come.

I've needed to snap some of them for awhile though, they really are sweet babies.

Serrin, I hope so too! Quasi and Stewart I'm sure will be happy to get back to the coop at night, they've been spending the night in the living room since the attack.

OH! Guess what I woke up to this morning.... Stewart trying to crow in the living room!!! It was more like a drawn out, "Raaaaaawk" but he's starting! My little one is growing up.

. Are the hen's and rooster's combs supposed to have a specific number of points? I have a rooster with 7 points(Fenwick) and one with 5 points(Pretzel). I think that the roosters are supposed to have 5, but I have no Idea about the hens.

The Standard of Perfection calls for 5 points ... on both male and female.

OK- LOOK AT THE DELLIE- not even 12 hours old and he/she is starting to try the mind control! Little camera ham!
I think I have one little blue, the Dellie, and two blacks or dark blues, one of which has a yellow spot on it's head - Harriet is NOT moving, though, so I think she is trying to hatch the 5th egg.
ANY ADVICE WELCOME- Ihave no idea what I should do. The Dellie has hopped in my hand already.
I assume she teaches them to eat and drink?

Beth,
That is what is nice about having a broody mama ..... she will do everything! You don't need to do a thing, other than feed and water! You are gonna love watching her mother them.

ETA .... Beth, do you have a Barred Rock? The black one with the dot on the head reminds me of a BR.

Day 11 for my broody Light Sussex.

Yes, Beth do you have any barred birds? Where did that little one with the head spot come from?

Ike is with the girls and happy as can be right now. At first he was breathing really heavily, then decided to supervise those who were nesting so he was in front of the fan for quite a while and seemed better. The teenagers are squatting for him and following him around now, LOL. Good for his ego!

I am totally confuse about the head spot also, as my only barred rock has not laid for a year, is not in the Del pen so I couldn't have used her egg even if she laid one. You got me. The mailman?

So DO we assume the yellow chick is Luke's? Kathy, thanks for posting that question on the chicken calculator. It makes no sense to me! Especially when Cynthia has gotten interesting crosses.

All four are trying to eat chick feed- Harriet has still not budged - if she doesn't hatch the 5th egg by tomorrow morning, I should give up on it, right?

Maybe Isaac was breathing heavily because he was a bit excited? I am SO glad he is with some ladies again and doing better!

Kathy, hope all goes well with the Light Sussex girl- and Cyn, how is Panda doing?

OH! MY! GOODNESS!!! I've just hit cuteness saturation and overload with just that one pic!!!

I'm betting little pullet right off the bat. No cockerel could produce such a convincing portrayal of feminine innocence on such short notice!

They're simply darling Beth. That one little black [or maybe it's a blue?] standing in the dish has this zen/reincarnation gone wrong look on his face that says "Aw cwap! I've been hatched into the wrong flock again! How long do you suppose it will take, before they notice this time?" **snicker, snicker, snicker**

And yes, I see what you mean by "The Look"!!!

Definitely mind control being practiced there!
