Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

I have one chick and one pip. None of the others are doing a thing. I know I had 4 cheeping and rocking last night, but now not so much. I feel so helpless. Temp is holding stead at 101.4, and humidity at 59-60% I guess I will just leave them alone. I know they can take time.......ughhhhhh I hate waiting. I don't want to raise a lone baby, it will be so lonely.

Oh Beth they are adorable! That Dellie is without a doubt giving its best attempt at Mind Control...give it a day and it will work on you.

Well...I came home from the swap with a trio of Porcelain D'uccles and no replacement roo. Everyone was so sweet that came from BYC....all offering me my pick of their bachelors...but I am not ready yet...but when I got home...I was ready. All of my girls were playing in the woods!

That idiot Severus was just hanging out letting them do it and I wanted to wring his neck!

On the Dellie front.... Cannonball is doing a bit better...she is eating a little and came inside for some green peas. She is still very upset and it is taking time and some extra love and attention...but she should mend her little broken heart.

Kathychks- I hope you get some more action soon! Waiting is the hard part- and knowing when to quit.

Thanks, Serrin and Cetawin, for saying that bout the Dellie, I thought maybe it was just me- little bold sweetie has been in and out of my hand- I have seen all four eat chick starter, and the three dark ones drink. All I can assume, since the rest know how, is that little MC (for mind control) has not been thirsty when I am around.

Kathyinmo- yeah, I am relieved Harriet is supposed to do all that learnin' stuff. Although it is going to be hard to trust her- I though I would give her a handful of blueberries, which she adores, for a treat for being a good mama- she pecked them open and the babies started at the juicy insides. Little Spot, however, swallowed a big piece, including skin. I ran for the house and the parakeet grit just in case.

Cyn- where would that spot come from? Would it be some throwback thing like Ultrasuede's couple of barred tail feathers?

Cetawin, Severus better realize he is in charge, at least for a while! He has evidently gotten lazy!
I bet those Duccle's or however you spell them are gorgeous - do we get pictures?

Yes I will post pics but cannot until hubby returns with my other laptop the end of the month.

I have pics of the flowers Thor received, the D'uccles and the very very neat portable pen NellaBean made and had her birds in.

That Severus is irritating me BIGTIME but I am trying to be reasonable and keep ts not telling myself "he is not Thor...he is not Thor...be patient".

Interesting thing/scary thing..when we were putting everyone up, Cannonball was pre-occupied with a place on the concrete pad in the back...when we went to get her, she was playing with a small blood pool, about the size of half dollar. We checked every bird, top to bottom, including the ducks...not an injury anywhere. The only thing I can think is that Angel the cat killed something there. I am searching for Angel, who is out hunting, so I can check her over.

*sigh*

Angel probably got a big mouse - I have seen my cats leave a blood pool that size behind from a kill. Hope she is OK, and the mouse didn't bite back!

We can wait for pictures- gives us something to anticipate!

Kathyinmo- you alive and in one piece? Wasn't today the day you were going to do all that stuff in the coop?

I just locked up the barn, shut the lights off for nightie night. When last seen MC was trying to peck Harriets eye and grab her wattles. Wonder who's grandkid this chickie is????

That is a lovely bird- sweet expression and pretty coloring- looks rosy and blue all at the same time.
How old are they?

Why does MC picking at her mama make me think Serrin is right, and I have a little girl?

Beth......that baby dellie is so darn adorable! Congrats!

Sadly, you can add me to this weeks chicken drama. What I'm assuming is a raccoon, broke into my little brooder coop and pulled my remaining splash orp pullet through a 2 inch by 3 inch opening. I still cannot fathom how she was pulled through. She was 16 weeks old, so not small by any means. Anyhow, vent opening at the floor level is now screwed shut, and I'm on the search to buy a trap.
